100 New Mandals in Telangana State

Government of Telangana is proposed to carve out more than 100 new mandals soon. The areas with at least 50000 population will be considered as mandal and Gram Sabhas will be conducted soon to frame the guidelines.

Rural mandals will be formed with the population between 40000 to 50000 and Urban mandals will be set up if the population is more than 50000.

Each revenue division will have 10-12 mandals and every Assembly constituency will have 5-6 mandals. Every district is likely to have 20 mandals. The Government will take the help of Google maps to restructure the mandals and districts.

Mandals system was introduced in united Andhra Pradesh in 1987 by N.T. Ramarao government. With the growing population, several villages have mandal headquarters far from their places. The increase of number of mandals will bring the administration much closer to the people.
