Gujarat Assembly Elections Schedule 2012 – Poll Dates, Counting and Resutls

The Election Commission of India (EC) has set to announce poll dates for Assembly elections in Gujarat state. The EC has already finalized the dates for filing nominations, campaign schedule and poll dates for Gujarat Assembly elections 2012. The term of the present Gujarat Assembly will expire on 17th January 2012. The new Assembly and Government should be formed by the end of 17th January 2012. Gujarat has 182 assembly constituencies. Out of these, 13 are reserved for SCs and 26 allocated for STs.

The elections to Gujarat Assembly will be held in November – December 2012 considering the festivals of Navratras and Diwali. The Election Commission sources have informed that there will be two phase elections to Gujarat Assembly.

The Election Commission has already contacted the Home Ministry regarding security arrangements for Gujarat polls. It is observed that about 35000 security personnel from central paramilitary forces and around 55,000 forces from state police department are likely to be deployed for polls in Gujarat.
