September 6: The subsidiary company of Indian Railway has announced launching of special chartered train tours for the people from Assam and North East. This is the first of its kind initiative by IRCTC. Under this plan / scheme, special coaches will be included and attached to regular trains from Guwahati.
The Chartered Rail Tour package includes fare for rail and hotel, food along with sight seeing. This is a one stop tour solution for the people of North East. The first tour under the scheme, a Durga Puja special, will start from Guwahati on October 19 in the Kanchenjunga Express. This is a five night / six days package to Kolkata and cost Rs 8,149 per person on twin sharing basis.
The next tour will be a 'Spiritual Odisha' tour. This will start from November 22 and another tour, 'Royal Rajasthan' will commence from December 6. The much attractive tour of 'Delhi -Agra- Jaipur Golden
Triangle' will start from December 29.
There will be discounts for those who booked the packages early. The IRCTC chartered tours would also cover insurance for all the passengers / tourists without any additional cost. The IRCTC is also planning special tours for students from Assam to New Delhi. For more details, see irctc.co.in .
