Karnataka Elections 2013 – EC Estimates 75 Percent Polling

The Election Commission is estimating that about 75 percent voters are likely to exercise their votes on the 5th May 2013 elections in Karnataka. The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, Anil Kumar Jha has said that the EC is making all the efforts to increase the voting percentage.

In 2008 Assembly elections, only 65.5 percent voters have exercised their votes. This time the EC is expecting the turn out of around 75 percent. Surprisingly, in Bangalore Urban constituency, only 45 percent of voters have exercised their vote.

The Election Commissioner has informed that 22 lakhs new voters have been enrolled. The EC has launched ‘More Voting’ campaign in which students, youth, NGO groups and resident associations have been involved.

The Election Commission is also writing letters to the parents to convince their children to participate in the voting on the polling day. Let us hope the efforts of Election Commission will give positive results.
