Mahabubnagar district has been split into three district in Telangana state. The new districts are Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy, as per the reorganisation draft for the formation of new districts, revenue divisions and mandals in Telangana state in the year 2016. The revenue divisions in the districts are Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, Rajendranagar, Nagarkurnool, Achampet, Wanaparthy and Gadwal.
