Mullapudi Venkata Ramana-Life and Cinema

Legendary Telugu writer Mullapudi Venkata Ramana breathed his last on 24th February 2011 at the age of 80. Mullapudi is one of the Popular Duo known as Bapu – Ramana. Ramana is known for his hilarious comedy writings with fun and classical touch. Mullapudi Venkata Ramama was a part of highly acclaimed and award winnin films in Telugu Film Industry (Tollywood). Bapu – Ramana are known for their inseparable friendship and they have been in living together for the past 50 years. Mullapudi is the brain behind the hilarious child character ‘Budugu’ which is highly popular in literary and non literary circles and readers of all ages.

Mullapudi Venkata Ramana (1931- 2011) was born in Dhavaleswaram, near Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. started his film career with ‘Rakta Sambandham’ in 1962. He wrote for many super hit movies such as Mutyala Muggu, Moogamansulu, Andaala Ramudu, Sampoorna Ramayanam, Bhakta Kannappa, Sakshi, Balaraju Katha, Jeevan Jyothi (Hindi), Hum Paanch (Hindi), Preminchi Chudu, Prana Mithrulu, Mr Pellam, Sreenatha Kavi Sarvabhouma, Pelli Pusthakam, Rambantu and Radha Gopalam. Mullapudi is presently working on the prestigious project of Bapu ‘Sree Rama Rajyam’ starring Nandamuri Balakrishna.

‘Kothi Kommachi’ is Ramana’s Autobiography. This is available in a Book and Audio form. Mullapudi worked for Andhra Patrika as a cinema journalist. Famous writes like Nanduri Ram Mohan Rao, Surampudi Seetharam are his contemporaries. Venkata Ramana won Nandi Award several times for his dialogues, story and screen play writing. Mullapudi Vara, the ace director is the son of Venkata Ramana. Vara directed films like Naa Alludu and Visakha Express.
