The elections season has come early in Andhra Pradesh. The election commission has released municipal elections notification 2014. The elections will be held on 30th March and results will be announced on 2nd April 2014. The election code of conduct has came into force immediately after the announcement of notification. Following is the municipal elections schedule 2014 in AP:
1) Release of Election Notification: 10th March
2) Filing of nominations in corporations: 10-13 March
3) Filing of nominations in Municipalities and urban panchayats: 10-14 March
4) Scrutiny of nominations: 15 March
5) Last date for the withdrawal of nominations: 18 March
6) Polling: 30th March (7 AM to 5 PM)
7) Counting of votes and results : 2nd April (8 AM onwards)
The elections will be held for 146 municipalities and 10 corporations in the first phase of elections. Both Supreme court and High Court have rejected to postpone the elections. The high court of Andhra Pradesh has ordered the Election Commission to complete the municipal elections process by 10th April 2014.
