Konijeti Rosaiah has been appointed as Governor of Tamil Nadu on 25th August 2011. K Rosaiah is known as non – controversial politician and loyal to the Congress Party for more than four decades. Rosaiah served as 15th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for a brief period after the sudden death of Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy during 2009. Rosaiah also served as minister for various portfolios in the cabinets all the Chief Ministers of the state. He stepped down as Chief Minister after the Congress High Command made up its mind to change the guard in the wake of deteriorating internal party affairs and agitations. Presently Rosaiah is serving as MLC of AP Legislative Council.
Rosaiah is one of the most senior leaders of the Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh. He is well known for his oratory skills and sarcastic comments on the opponents of Government and Party. Rosaiah was a disciple of Acharya N.G. Ranga, who was a great freedom fighter and farmer leader. Rosaiah’s political career started with Swatantra Party, formed by Acharya N.G. Ranga. Rosaiah served as PCC president of AP during 1995-97.
Rosaiah has created record by introducing state budget 16 times in AP Assembly. He introduced the budget seven times in a row, which is a record in the country. He served as finance minister in the cabinets of M.Chenna Reddy, K. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy and YSR Reddy. He was conferred honorary Doctorate from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam during 2007.
