Athani Assembly Constituency is in Belgaum district of Karnataka state. The BJP is strong in the constituency. BJP’s candidate Laxman Sangappa Savadi has won the constituency with more than 20000 votes majority in 2008 Assembly elections.
The Congress Party has fielded Kiran Kumar Tatyagouda Patil from Athani Constituency in 2008 elections. Both parties likely to field same candidates in 2013 elections also. Sangappa Savadi has gained 45.91 percent votes and Tatyagouda has secured 28.41 votes in that elections.
