Chinnam Babu Ramesh is a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader of East Godavari district. He was elected as an MLA for the first time during 2004 Assembly Elections from Yellavaram Assembly segment. His constituency, Yellavaram was ceased to exist during 2009 Assembly elections due to delimitation and reorganisation of constituencies. The areas comes under the Yellavaram segment were joined in Rampachodavaram Constituency, a new addition in 2009 elections.

He was defeated by Kosuri Kasi Viswanadha Veera Venkata Satyanaraya Reddy (KVVV Satyanarayana Reddy) of the Congress party with a majority of more than 10000 votes.
