Janga Krishna Murthy is presently with YSR Congress Party of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He is member of the Governing Council of the YSR CP. He won two terms as an MLA from Gurajala Assembly Constituency of Guntur district. He was elected in 1999 and 2004 elections. Janga lost to Yarapathineni Srinivasa Rao of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 2009 Assembly elections. Janga Krishna Murthy has emerged as a key leader in YSR CP due to his close relations with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He may contest from Gurajal Constituency in 2014 elections on the ticket of YSR CP.
