Profile of Kavuri Sambasiva Rao – Eluru MP

Dr. Kavuri Samba Siva Rao is a politician, industrialist, contractor, businessman, engineer, farmer and social worker. He is senior most politician from Andhra Pradesh. He was elected five terms to Lok Sabha from 1984 to 2009. He is representing Eluru Parliamentary Constituency of West Godavari District in AP. He is a staunch supporter of United Andhra Pradesh. He has been trying his luck to get a berth in the Central Cabinet for a long time, but in vain due to various reasons.

Kavuri Sambasiva Rao defeated Bolla Bulli Ramaiah of TDP in 2009 Parliament Elections. He was elected to Lok Sabha during 1984, 1989, 1998, 2004 and 2009 elections. He served in various positions in the Congress Party. His political career started with Tiwari Congress in 1980s. He has been with Congress Party for a long time and has greater influence on the party affairs at the Delhi level.

Coming to the personal details, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao was born in Dosapadu village of Krishna district in 1943. His father’s name is Shri Raghavaiah. He marrid to Smt. Hemalata and have three daughters and one son. His permanent address is at Matruratna, 6-3-251/7/3 A and B, Balapura, Road No. 1, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad – 500 482 Andhra Pradesh. Present address at New Delhi is 17, Lodhi Estate,New Delhi – 110 003. He studied B.E. Regional Engineering College, Warangal, Andhra Pradesh.

He served as Joint-Secretary, All India Congress Committee in his early political days and also as member of AICC. He served as a member of various committees in the ministries such as Subordinate Legislation, Finance, Estimates, Surface Transport, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Power, Public Accounts, Energy etc. He was vice – president of APCC for a brief period. He started Kavuru Charitable Trust to serve the poor and needy in Andhra Pradesh. He is a member of Progressive Educational Trust, Old age Home, Board of Salarjung Museum, All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and set up several institutions.
