Profile of Panabaka Lakshmi – Congress MP

Panabaka Lakshmi is a senior politician from Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. She is the central minister in the cabinets of Dr. Manmohan Singh. Presently Panabaka Lakshmi is holding the portfolio of textiles as Minister of State for Textiles. She is a staunch loyalist of the Congress Party. Here is a brief profile cum bio-data of P. Lakshmi. Panabaka Lakshmi was elected thrice to the Parliament from Nellore Lok Sabha Constituency before it was allocated to General Category in 2009 General Elections after the territorial delimitation of constituencies. She contested and won from Bapatla Lok Sabha Constituency (Guntur District) in 2009 elections. The constituency was earlier represented by Daggubati Purandeswari, an incumbent MP from Visakhapatnam.

Panabaka Lakshmi was born on 06-10-1958 at Kavali in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. She was married to Panabaka Krishnaiah on 07th December 1986 and they have two daughters. She studied MA Public Administration in Andhra University, Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh). Her permanent address is at 25-1-484, Postal Colony, A.K. Nagar, Nellore (Andhra Pradesh).

Panabaka Lakshmi was first elected to Lok Sabha in 1996 from Nellore Constituency. She was re-elected from the same constituency in 1998 and 2008 Parliament Elections and later from Bapatla Segment. She was Executive Committee Member of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP). She also served as Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare during 2004 – 2009 in the Central cabinet.
