Profile of YS Vivekananda Reddy of Kadapa

YS Vivekananda Reddy is a brother of late chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. He served as an MLA, MP and also as minister in the cabinet of N. Kiran Kumar Reddy for a brief time. He represented Kadapa Parliamentary Constituency for two terms. He has been in news for his political flip – flops after the tragic death of YSR REddy in a helicopter crash. He supported YS Jagan Mohan Reddy initially and later shifted loyalties to the Congress Party. Here is the profile of YS Vivekananda Reddy:

Vivekananda Reddy’s parents are Y.S. Raja Reddy and Smt. Y.S. Jayamma. He born on 01-04-1950 at Pulivendula of Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh. He was married to YS Sowbhagya on 15 February 1973 and they have a daughter. He studied B.Sc. Agriculture from S.V. Agricultural College, Tirupathi (Andhra Pradesh) and settled as businessman cum agriculturist. His permanent address is at 8/186, Raja Reddy Street, Pullivendla Post and Mandal, Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh.

YS Vivekananda Reddy has served as an MLA of AP Legislative Assembly for two terms during 1989 and 1996. Later he was elected to 13th Lok Sabha in 1999 and served as member of Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests. He was re-elected to 14th Lok Sabha for 2nd term in 2004 and became member of Committee on Agriculture. He was elected as an MLC during YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s rule. He parted ways with YSR family after the demise of YSR Reddy.

He served as Minister for Agriculture for a brief period in the cabinet of Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy. He contested from Pulivendula Assembly Constituency in 2010 bye elections and defeated by the widow of late YSR, Vijaya Lakshmi. He is not reinstated in the ministry after his defeat.
