Mancherial is politically most active constituency in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh. Presently it is represented by Gaddam Aravind Reddy of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Party. He is serving as an MLA of the constituency. Mancherial comes under the purview of Peddapalli Parliamentary Constituency. G.Vivek, son of senior Congress leader G. Venkata Swamy is the present MP of this lok sabha constituency.

Gaddam Aravinda Reddy won both 2009 Elections as well as bye elections held in 2010 on the ticket of TRS. Aravind Reddy defeated Krishna Rao of the Congress Party. There was a rebel factor in the Congress. N. Diwakar Rao, who lost the election in 2009 polls was denied ticket by the Congress party. Selection of Krishna Rao as the candidate of the Congress Party has fueled the dissent in constituency.

There was a huge exodus of the workers from the Congress to TRS during the recent bye elections to Mancherial Assembly Constituency. There has been so much drama in Mancherial Constituency during 2009 Assembly elections. Aravinda Redy was turned as a rival of the TRS and the TRS has held first ever people’s court against him. Arvind Reddy revolted against party leadership which caused temporary trouble. He was branded as a supporter of Y.S.RajasekharReddy. Later he was pacified and continued in TRS, resigned and reelected in 2010 bye election with a decent majority. Luxettipet, Mancherial and Dandepalli Mandals comes under the purview of Mancherial Constituency.
