Telangana state first Budget 2014 – 15 Highlights

Finance Minister of Telangana Etela Rajender has presented the maiden budget for the state of Telangana. The first Assembly Session of Telangana State has met on 5th November 2014. Following are the highlights of Telangana State Budget 2014-15. 

1) Education sector gets Rs 10956 crore.

2) Rs 2282 crore has been allocated for medical and health sector. The Government will set up a Medical university at Warangal. (This will be in the lines of NTR Health University in Vijayawada)

3) Industrial permissions will be given in the office of Chief Minister.

4) The Social Welfare Department has been reorganised as SC development department.

5) Jodeghat will be developed as Komaram Bheem development area. The government will set up a tribal museum and a tourism spot in Jodeghat.

6) Importance will be given for seed bank, poultry industry, horticulture and other agri related sectors.

7) Rs. 10 lakhs will be given for each of the family members of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana.

8) Telangana Government will improve the reservoir system and its own watershed scheme. The government will improve 45000 minor tanks and reservoirs across the state of Telangana in the coming five years.

9) Rs 2000 crore will be allocated to improve and rejuvenate 9000 water reservoirs and tanks in Telangana State this year only.

10) Four lift irrigation projects would be completed this financial year in Mahabubnagar district alone. A total of 6500 crore has been allocated for this purpose.
