Government of Telangana has taken a crucial decision regarding classification of backward castes. The Government has included 36 tribal and other related communities into Most Backward Castes (MBC). TS Government has included orphans into MBC category apart from 35 other castes.
36 New MBC Castes in Telangana:
Balasanthula, Budabukkala, Dasari, Dommara, Gangireddulavaru, Jangam, Jogi, Katikapala, Mondibanda, Vamsaraju, Pamula, Parthi, Pambala, Peddammavandlu, Veeramushti, Gudala, Kanjara, Reddika, Mondepatta, Nokkar, Pariki Muggula, Yaata, Choppemari, Kaikadi, Joshi Nandiwalas, Mandula, Kunapuli, Patra, Pala – Yekari, Rajannala, Bukka Ayyavaru, Gotrala, Kasikapadi, Sihhula, Sikligar and Orphans.
The BCs have been demanding for the classification of them into MBS depending on the profession of various communities. With the creation of MBC group among BCs, welfare programmes and reservations also will be divided among BCs. Government is also considering to set up separate MBC Corporation.
34 Percent MBCs:
About 54 percent of the total population in Telangana is from BC communities. Out of these, 34 percent will be from MBC castes identified by the Government. More than 25 lakhs population in MBC castes are depending upon their age old professions for survival. The MBC list is prepared based on the social, economic and educational backwardness of these castes.
