Aadhaar Cards of UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) are fastly making inroads across the country. The UIDAI Director General R S Sharma has informed that about 80 percent
of the work in the 20 districts out of total 51 districts is likely to be completed by December 2012.
Around 80 percent Aadhaar enrollment and issue of cards work in the remaining 31 districts will be completed by 31st March 2013.
Aadhaar of UIDAI has been targeted to cover a total population of 60 crore by March 2014. This is spanning across 18 states including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Service providers such as Indian Railways, Banks and Telecom
Companies are recognising Aadhaar Cards as valid proof of identity and residence for various transactions and services.
