Aadhaar Second Phase in AP- Vizag, Krishna, Guntur, West Godavari, Warangal, Karimnagar, Medak and other districts

Andhra Pradesh is moving on brisk pace in issuing Aadhaar Cards. Second phase of UIDAI Aadhaar Enrollment in Andhra Pradesh is likely to start from August 2011. The first phase of enrollment for multi-purpose Aadhaar Cards has been under progress and more than half of the targeted areas were covered. The seven districts covered in the first phase of Aadhaar enrollment are Adilabad, Anantapur, Chittoor, East Godavari, Srikakulam, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy. The total number of Aadhaar enrollments targeted in the first phase are 3.10 crore persons. Of this, about 1.70 crore have been enrolled as on 20th July 2011 and Aadhaar unique number generated for 53.70 lakh. But the Aadhar cards are delivered to only 26.10 lakh persons due to indifferent and pathetic delivery system through post offices. Out of total delivered Aadhaar cards, nearly half are in Hyderabad only.

Second phase of Aadhaar enrollment will be started in the remaining 16 districts of the state covering Telangana, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra regions i.e., West Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Medak, Guntur, Krishna, Nellore, Prakasam, Kadapa, Kurnool, Vizianagaram, Mahaboobnagar, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda. The department of Civil Supplies, Govt of Andhra Pradesh is making all arrangements to start the enrolment process in these districts. People who have already enroled themselves in the first phase can check the status of their Aadhaar cards.

It is estimated that about 3000 enrollment centers will be required in second phase for capturing the Iris details and other data as part of the enrollment process. The department of Civil Supplies will open 500 centers and the remaining will be set up by banks. People have to attend the enrollment centers in person along with required documents and copies of certificates. The authorities are contemplating to complete entire state by 31st March 2011. Andhra Pradesh is leading in the Aadhar enrollment with about 38 percent enrollment, followed by Maharasthra (25 percent) and Karnataka (15 percent). People can also apply online through Aadhaar official website. You may also download the forms from the website, fill all the details and can submit at the enrollment camp along with documents.

Children of all ages can also be enroled for Aadhaar cards. There will be no need of taking IRIS and biometrics for infants and children below 12 years. All the remaining family members must attend the enrolment camp / center for giving IRIS and biometrics. The Government of Andhra Pradesh is contemplating to link Aadhaar UID number with the issue LPG connection, PDS rice scheme, pensions and other welfare schemes in the state.
