The Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched issue of Smart Cards of Aadhaar, developed by The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has launched the issue of cards on 28th January 2011 from Maheswaram, Ranga Reddy district. Noe people can Enroll for Aadhaar Cards at Post Offices also. Maheswaram Mandal has become the first Revenue unit in India where people would use Aadhaar Smart Cards to get their rations from the public distribution system (PDS). All 27 villages comes under the purview of Maheshwaram mandal had 100 percent enrollment for issue of Aadhaar cards. You can apply online for the Aadhaar Cards through official website.
The Aadhaar Smart Cards are developed and designed by UIDIA, headed by Nandan Nilekhani formed by Govt. of India. Under this, a unique identification number will be issued to every citizen in the country based on biometric authentication. The citizens can avail following services based on Aadhaar cards:
1. Rajeev Arogya Sri
2. Scholarships and Fee Reimbursements
3. Indiramma Houses
4. Rice Rs.2 per KG.
5. Indira Kranti Patham
6. MGNREAS- Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme
7. Pensions etc.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has so far enrolled 6 lakhs citizens for the issue of Aadhaar cards. These cards can also be used for the benefits like LPG connections etc. You need to submit certain documents or copies of certificates along with application.
In the first phase of enrollment process, seven districts of the AP i.e, Srikakulam, East Godavari, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Adilibad, Anantapur and Chittoor have been covered. Second phase of Aadhaar enrollment for other 16 districts will start from August 2011.
