Assembly Constituencies and MLAs in Punjab

With Assembly Elections 2012 are on the cards in Punjab, the political expectations and imaginations are going high for parties and observers with catching the pulse of the voter. All the TV news channels are gearing up for reporting Exit Polls after the end of elections on 30th January 2012. Apart from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh is another big state that is going for Assembly Elections in 2012. Assembly Elections in Punjab have seen the voters following the tradition of defeating the incumbent party. In 1992, the Indian National Congress came into power and in 1997 voters brought Akali Dal into power. The same history repeated in 2002 and 2007 elections with Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal voted to power in respective years. The interesting factor in 2007 elections is the Congress got highest vote percentage with 40.90 percent votes and secured 44 seats. While Shiromani Akali Dal got 37.09 percent votes and grabbed 48 seats. BJP secured 19 seats with 8.28 percent votes and BSP took 4.13 percent vote share in that elections.
