Assembly Elections in Tamilnadu 2016 – Schedule and Party Positions

Tamil Nadu has 234 Assembly Constituencies. The latest assembly elections will be held on 16th May 2016. The winning party need 118 seats to form the government in Tamilnadu. J. Jayalalithaa is the present chief minister of the state. Jayalalithaa and Karunanidhi are arch rivals in Tamil Nadu politics.

2) Last date for filing nominations: 29 April 2016
3) Date for scrutiny of nominations: 30 April 2016
4) Last date for the withdrawal of candidates: 2 May 2016
5) Date of polling: 16 May 2016
6) Date of counting and announcement of results: 19 May 2016

1) AIADMK: 160 seats
2) DMDK: 41 seats
3) Communist Party of India: 10 seats
4) Communist Party of India (Marxist): 12 seats
5) MMK: 3 seats

7) All India Forward Block: 1 seat
