The Government of Andhra Pradesh has started Cash Transfer Scheme as per the orders of the Govt. of India. The programme will be implemented through Mee Seva Centers wherever bank services are not available in the state.
The programme is proposed to implement in five districts initially. These are East Godavari, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Chittoor and Anantapur.
Though the scheme was launched officially at the national level, it will take some more weeks to take off in Andhra Pradesh due to non availability of bank accounts to the beneficiaries and also lack of Aadhaar cards to several people in those districts.
The programme is intended to give cash to the beneficiaries of PDS system instead of food items. The programme will be expanded to other districts in a phased manner.
