The Government of India has proposed to extend the Aadhaar based Cash Transfer Scheme (CTS) to many more districts in the second phase implementation of the scheme. The CTS may be extended to 8 more districts in AP. These are Srikakulam, Krishna, Guntur, Adilabad, Kadapa, Vizianagaramk, Kurnool and Nalgonda districts. The scheme is presently being implemented in Hyderabad, Anantapur, Chittoor, East Godavari and Ranga Reddy districts.
The CTS will be implemented for senior citizen pension scheme and widow pensions. With the latest addition of 8 districts, a total of 13 districts will comes under Cash Transfer Scheme.
Presently, 43 districts in the country are implementing CTS. In the second phase, 78 more districts will be added to the list. 26 schemes were identified so far to implement through Cash Transfer Scheme.
In Andhra Pradesh, 5.36 crore people were enrolled for Aadhaar numbers. Out of these, the postal department has so far disbursed 5.03 crore Aadhaar cards.
