The tale of selecting a capital city for Andhra Pradesh remain an endless speculations. The latest grapevine is that the Sivarama Krishnan Committee, which formed to look into the issue may suggest two cities / places for the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
The panel is of the view that the development of a capital city will take 30 – 100 years. The Government has to draw plans to develop the capital city considering the requirements of future generations.
The speculations over capital city at Guntur – Vijayawada stretch remain strong and stable with AP Government always tilting towards the heaven of real estate agents. It is almost certain that the region may become an administrative capital.
The Sivarama Krishnan Committee is also of the view that the selection capital city should not deprive development and growth prospects of Rayalaseema region. Hence the need for two capital cities. It is reported that the Committee is seriously considering Donakonda area to make a second capital for industrial growth.
