Government of Telangana has finalised Medarama Maha Jathara dates for the year 2020. The tribal festival also known as Sammakka – Saralamma Jathara will be celebrated from 5th February to 8th February 2020. Every alternate year, lakhs of devotees attend the festival.
Medaram Sammakka – Saralamma Jathara is celebrated once in two years. The festival usualy fall on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday of Magha Suddha Pournami.
Lakhs of people reach Medaram on those days and celebrate the festival with fervour. Devotees stay in the forest area of Medaram for 5 days to complete the 5 day long festival.
Government is allocating crores of rupees for Medaram Jathara. Traffic and Parking helplines and security will be provided by Telangana Government to manage the crowd on the festival days.
