It was a mixed result for the BJP and the Congress parties in Bharuch district in 2007 Assembly Elections. Both the parties won two each out of the the total 5 constituencies. Janata Dal (U), an ally of the BJP has won from Jhagadia Assembly Constituency. Ankleshwar and Bharuch are won by BJP while Jambusar and Vagra are bagged by the Congress Party. Following are details of winners and runners in Bharuch district of Gujarat in 2007 elections. Let us wait to see how the parties fare in 2012 Assembly elections.
1) Ankleshwar Constituency: Patel Iswarsinh Thakorbhai of the BJP has defeated Patel Karsanbhai Gumanbhai of the Congress Party.
2) Vagra Constituency: Iqbal Patel of the Indian National Congress has defeated Manharbhai Bhagvan Bhai Gohil of the BJP.
3) Jambusar Segment: Mori Chhatrasinhji Pujabhai of the BJP was defeated by Kiran Kumar Lakshman Bhai Makwan of the Congress Party.
4) Bharuch Constituency: Dushyantbhai Rajnikant Patel of the BJP defeated Arunsinh Ajitsinh Rana of the Congress.
5) Jhagadia Seat: JD (U) candidate Vasava Chhotubhai Amarsinhbha defeated the Congress nominee, Vasava Chhandubhai Maganbhai.
