Government of Telangana has issued orders forming two more new districts in the state. Narayanapet and Mulugu districts will come into force along with 12 new mandals. With this, total number of districts in Telangana is at 33.
Mandals in Narayanapet District:
Narayanapet district is carved out from the existing Mahabubnagar district. Draft notification has been issued in Decembet 2018 and objections were received from the public.
Following are the mandals included in Narayanapet district: Kosgi, Damaragidda, Madduru, Narayanapet, Utkoor, Dhanvada, Marikal, Makthal, Narva, Maganur and Krishna. Koyilakonda mandal is retained with Mahabubnagar after objections from the people. See the map for complete details of mandals.
Boudaries of Narayanapet district:
The new district shares its borders with Jogulamba Gadwal, Wanaparthi, Mahabubnagar, Vikarabad districts and also with Karnataka state.
Administration of new Narayanapet district will start from 17 February 2019. The first collector of the new district is Ronald Ross. Total population of the district is 5.04 lakhs.
