Sunanda Pushkar has been in the news for a while. She is the spouse of Shashi Tharoor. She became a celebrity after marrying Sashi Tharoor. Shashi Tharoor has been into politics after working at the United Nations as Under Secretary General. Sunanda is also a businesswoman. Sunanda Pushkar has again came into limelight after re-induction of Sashi Tharoor into the Union Cabinet in October 2012. Sunanda was a sales director in a real estate company Tecom. This is a Dubai based company. The Tharoor – Sunanda have become controvercial after their involvement in Kochi IPL team auction in April 2010. Shashi Tharoor had quit the cabinet subsequently and maried Sunanda Pushkar. This is third marriage for Sunanda

Sunanda Pushkar belongs to a family of landlords and Army Officers in the Kashmir Valley. Sunanda’s first husband was Sanjay Raina, a Kashmiri. Sunanda had married a Kerala businessman Sujith Menon after the first marriage ended in a divorce. Sujith Menon died in a road accident in 1997. Sunanda has a 19 year old son, Shiv Menon from her second marriage.
