Arvind Kejriwal has been in news for his contribution towards anti corruption movement in India. He has been associates with Anna Hazare, a Gandhian Social Activits and took part in the Jan Lok Pal movement. Kejrival is a former civil servant in IRS and voluntarily quit the job to take part in the right to information and anti corruption movements. Following is the brief profile of Arvind Kejrival:
Kejrival was born on 16 August 1968. Arvind was awarded Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2006 in the category of Emergent Leadership. He was instrumental in taking the India’s Right to Information movement to grassroots level, which resulted in the Right to Information Act 2005.
Arvind was born in Hissar (Haryana) and graduated from IIT Kharagpur with a B.Tech. (Mechanical Engineering) in 1989. He was also a gold medalist from IIM. He quit the job with Tata Steel and worked for Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity and Ramakrishna Mission before joining in IRS.
Later he quit the IRS job and founded Parivartan, a citizen’s movement aimed at transparent governance. After long association with Anna Hazare, Kejrival has developed difference of opinioin on the course of anti corruption movement and announced formation of a political party along with Manish Sisodia and Gopal Rai.
Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita, an IRS officer and presently working with Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India is a batchmate of Kejriwal at National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie. They have two children and Arvind also written a book ‘Swaraj’.
