Profile of Arnab Goswami – Chief Editor of Republic TV Channel

Arnab Ranjan Goswami is an Indian journalist and a television anchor. Arnab is one of the best and highest paid journalists in India and represents a different school of journalists. His heated and high voltage debates are known for several controversies. He is the editor in chief and also believed to be a partner of the popular news channel Republic TV. His spontaneity and proof based discussions and a tag of ‘India Wants to Know’ have made him very much popular among the television audience and journalist circles.


Personal Life of Arnab Goswami:

Arnab Goswami was born in Guwahati, Assam on 7th March, 1973. His grandparents both paternal and maternal were Assamese. His father, Manoranjan Goswami was an Army Officer while his mother Suprabha Gain-Goswami was an author. Goswami passed his tenth class from St Mary’s School in Delhi and twelfth from Kendriya Vidyalaya School in Jabalpur. He then went on to pursue Graduation from the Hindu College and Masters’ degree from St. Antony’s College of Oxford University.


Details of Marriage and Children:
Arnab Goswami is married to Samyabrata Ray Goswami. Samyabrata is also an Indian journalist and news producer and they have a son.


Journalism Career:


Arnab Goswami has started his journalism career with the Telegraph and later, he moved to New Delhi Television (NDTV). Here, he had begun his first step in journalism which won him award for the Best News Anchor of Asia 2004. Later, he moved to the Times Now channel and became the editor in chief. After a couple of years, he resigned from Times Now to launch a new channel named Republic TV. Goswami was the Managing Director as well the Editor-in-Chief for the channel which was funded by Rajeev Chandrashekar, a then BJP loyalist and member of Rajya Sabha. It is said that Goswami own major share of Republic TV.


Awards and accolades:
In NDTV, a programme named News Tonight had won him the award for the Best News Anchor of Asia 2004. He had also won the Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism. Arnab Goswami was elected as the President of News Broadcasting Federation.
