Profile of D.K. Aruna- Gadwal Constituency

Smt. Dharmavarapu Kottam Aruna (D.K. Aruna) has distinct history in the politics of Andhra Pradesh. She has represented Samajwadi Party (SP) in Andhra Pradesh and elected on Samajwadi Party ticket to AP Assembly from Gadwal constituency (No.197). She elected as MLA from Gadwal Assembly of Mahaboobnagar district for the first time in 1999. In 2004 she joined in the Congress Party and elected from the same constituency. She is the cabiner member in the late YS Rajasekhar Reddy council of ministers and K. Rosaiah ministry and held portfolio of Small Scale industries, Sugar, Khadi and Village industries. She has been shifted to Information and Public Relations (I and PR) portfolio in the newly formed cabinet of N. Kiran Kumar Reddy ministry. She stands apart from other women ministers with her activeness and service orientation.

D.K. Aruna came from the politically strong family and she is the sister in law of D.K. Samarasimha Reddy, who represented four times to the Assembly from Gadwal constituency and also a former minister. D.K. Aruna’s daughter has been married to the son of Anam Vivekananda Reddy, brother of Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Finance minister in Kiran Kumar Reddy’s cabinet. Following is the brief profile of D.K.
