Sindhu was born on 5th July 1995. Her parents, PV Ramana and P Vijaya, both are former volleyball players and represented country. Ramana was an Arjuna awardee. Sindhu studies at Auxilium School in Mahendra Hills, and St Anns College at Mehdipatnam of Hyderabad. Sindhu was inspired by Gopichand, who is also her coach. Sindhu’s first coach was Mehboob Ali when she practised at Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications in Secunderabad.
PV Sindhu has started her medal winning streak in 2009 with a bronze in Sub Junior Asian Badminton Championships. She reached quarter finals of the Junior World Badminton Championships in 2010. In London olympics, she reached to the semi finals and lost in that game.
Sindhu got her break in 2013 by winning Malaysian Open. This was her first Grand Prix Gold Medal. She also won Macau Open in the same year and awarded Arjuna Award by the Government of India.
In Rio Olympics, she was entered into the final by defeating Wang Yihan in quarter finals and Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in semi finals match. She lost to Carolina Marin of Spain in the final to clinch Silver medal to become the youngest Indian to win a olympic medal for India. Let us wish her all the best for Tokyo Olympics 2020.
