Profile of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-Kadapa

Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy is the son of Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy, the late chief minister of Andhra Pradesh with huge mass appeal. Jagan Mohan Reddy was born in Pulivendula village on December 21st, 1972. He studied his M.B.A. and started his political career through campaigning for the Congress Party during 2004 Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. He entered into active politics in 2009 through contesting and winning from Kadapa Parliamentary Constituency. Y.S. Jagan’s political career entered into new phase with the sudden and tragic death of his father Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has been in news for his efforts to leave his mark on AP politics after the demise of YSR. With strong objections from the Congress Party High Command to make him CM of AP and also for his Odarpu Yatra, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy started distancing himself from the Congress Party. He resigned to his MP seat along with his mother Y.S. Vijaya Lakshmi in November 2010 and announced to float his own political party very soon.

The Congress party high command and state leadership have been in nervous with continuous show of strength by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy through his Odarpu Yatra, Lakshya Deeksha at Vijayawada and Jala Deeksha in New Delhi in protest against the judgement of Krishna Water Tribunal.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched YSR Congress Party (Yuvajana Shramika Raithu Congress Party) a few months back and also contesting on the same party from Kadapa MP seat. He also considered Rajanna Rajyam Party for a while and settled with YSR Congress. It is almost certain that he could pose a big challenge to the Congress High Command in retaining power in the state and center in 2014 elections.
