The Indian Railways is on the way to introduce more and more passenger friendly services. The Railways is planning to introduce new system of e-ticket booking. Under the new system, Interbank Mobile Payment Service (IMPS) will be introduced to the convenience of Railway passengers.
The new system is likely to smoothen the e-ticketing process as it will allow the passengers to book tickets without any credit card or debit card. You can book tickets without net banking facility and can make payments through Railway’s inter-bank transfer facility.
The new e-ticket booking facility will be available 24×7. The system will also accept payments through mobile phones in the later stages. The facility will be available on the IRCTC e-ticketing website initially through internet and mobile application will be introduced later.
The Railway department has already proposed to introduce Rolling Deposit Scheme (RDS) system, which allows passengers to deposit money in advance with the IRCTC and can make payments at the time of ticket booking.
