What a brave family! Family details of Abhinandan Varthaman, the wing commander of Indian Air Force (IAF) are revealed by their relatives and well wishers. All the members of his family, including his father, wife and brother are either serving or retied from Indian Air Force. It is learnt that his mother is a doctor. Tanvi Marwah, wife of Abhinandan is a retired pilot of Indian Air Force. She served in the position of squadron leader in IAF. Following are details of Tanvi Marwaha, wife of Abhinandan Varthaman.
Tanvi, a Squadron Leader:
Abhinandan’s wife Tanvi Marwaha has served as squadron leader of Indian Air Force. She was retired as a helicopter pilot. They have a young son. Varthaman’s parents live at Jal Vayu Vihar, a gated community of 76 homes in Chennai. Varthaman also has a sister and she lives in abroad.

IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman has studied in Sainik School, Amaravati, in Pollachi. He was commissioned in Indian Air Force in 2004. Tanvi is believed to be his colleague in Indian Air Force.
About Abhinandan’s father:
Air Marshal Simhakutty Varthaman (retd), father of Abhinandan Varthaman has served in various senior positions in Indian Air Force. He joined as fighter pilot in IAF in 1973. During the Kargil war, Simhakutty was the Chief Operations Officer of Gwalior.
He also played key role in the coordinate upgrade of the Mirage 2000 aircraft which was used by India for air strikes recently on terrorist camps in Pakistan.
Abhinandan’s Mother:
Abhinandan’s mother is a doctor. Her name is Dr. Shobha Varthaman. She served as doctor in several conflict zones across the world. She worked with
Medicine Sans Frontiers (Doctors Without Borders).
