The marriage registration office at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams is getting ready on a brisk pace. The exclusive marriage registration office is most likely to commence functioning from 18th December 2011. The office is being constructed atop Tirumala. The TTD management has also allotted a full fledged cottage at Sankhumitta area for the purpose on a permanent basis. Recruitment of concerned staff and creation of basic facilities and amenities are also about to complete soon.
Most of the devotees believe that those who enter into wedlock at the TTD temple are blessed with a prosperous married life. Marriages in Tirumala are gradually catching up with this sentiment. There are no Kalyana Mandapams in Tirumala at the moment as there are restrictions by the TTD. It is estimated that about 6000 marriages are being performed at Tirumala on an average every month. The Government of Andhra Pradesh is also contemplating to opne marriage registration offices at all other holy shrines in the state including Annavaram, Dwaraka Tirumala and Simhachalam. This initiative will also fetch some revenue. The registration offices will not entertain any other functions and exclusively meant for marriages.
