Latest Update on 4th August 2011 for Telugu Students in UNVA: The TANA (Telugu Association of North America) has decided to offer help to Andhra Pradesh students studying in University of Northern Virginia (UNVA). TANA is offering legal help to the students victimised in the alleged UNVA Visa irregularities. Telugu students studying in UNVA in various programmes can email at team@tana.org OR tanastudents@gmail.com for the immediate help and assistance. The TANA has discussed the issue with Indian Ambassador in US, Arun Kumar in order to help the students.
The US Immigration authorities have exposed another fraud university the United States. The Unites States Immigration Officials have unearthed and raided the offices of University of Northern Virginia (UNVA) on the charges of huge VISA fraud and collected several important documents and hard drives. It is estimated that out of total enrollment of 2400 students, about 1500 students may be from Andhra Pradesh and remaining also from other parts of India. The UNVA has lost its accreditation in 2003 and still attracting students through issuing large number of I-20 forms. The University is authorised to issue 50 I-20 forms but the students number is already overwhelming. Indian Embassy officials have requested the US Immigration and investigating authorities not to victimise the Indian students for the visa fraud.
The UNVA has also displayed some messages regarding raids of US authorities. The University has a specialised student portal at https://cams.unva.edu/eStudent/login.asp where you need to login to get the details of enrolled students. Chancellor of the University, David Lee issued a Statement on the website saying that the UNVA shall conduct classes as per the schedule and informed that as long as students attend classes as required they will continue to remain in status. UNVA is offering Under Graduate Programmes in Business Administration, Information Technology and Block Transfer Programme. UNVA also offers MBA Programmes with various specialisations along with complete online programs (MBA and DBA), Ph.D. and Non Degree courses. You can get the details from the website of UNVA.
Information about actual number of victims from Andhra Pradesh is yet to be confirmed.
