Good news to the people of Vizag. Government of Andhra Pradesh has approved metro rail project for the port city of Visakhapatnam. The Vizag metro project will be carried out in PPP mode (public – private partnership mode).
42.55 Kilometers:
Total length of Vizag Metro project is 42.55 kms. This will be in 3 corridors as mentioned below:
Corridor 1: Kommadi to Gajuwaka: 30.8 kms
Corridor 2: Gurudwara to Old Post Office: 5.25 kms
Corridor 3: Tatichetlapalem to Chinna Valtair: 6.91 kms

Total cost of the project is estimated at Rs.8300 crores. It is estimated that about 5-6 lakhs commuters will be benefited from this project.
Employment to 1600 persons:
The Vizag Metro project will provide employment to about 1600 persons after the commencement of the project. The project will be completed within 5 years. Government will procure 95 acres of land for Vizag metro project.
