Update on 21st April 2011: YSR Congress Party has been allotted ‘Ceiling Fan’ symbol (common symbol) for the bye elections to Kadapa MP seat and Pulivendula Assembly segment. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched his new Political Party – YSR Congress Partya few months back. He will contest on the banner of new party in the forthcoming bye elections to Kadapa Parliamentary Constituency and also field his candidates from the own party. The official papers were already filed at the Election Commission of India recently by Y.V. Subba Reddy on behalf of Y.S. Jagan Reddy along with the founder of the party, Siva Kumar. Siva Kumar later authorised YS Jagan and the informed the EC that the executive committee has elected Jagan as president of the YSR Congress Party. The ECI has allocate a symbol to the new party.
The party name that has been doing rounds in the media and political circles is ‘Y.S.R. Party’ (Yuvajana- Shramika- Raithu Party). The flag has already revealed at Idupulapaya. Logo and symbols are yet to be decided. It will be just YSR Congress Party. Though Y.S. Jagan seems not in favour of including ‘Congress’ tag to his party name, the procedural delays forced him to own YSR Congress. It was assumed earlier also that the party name would be YSR Congress Party in the lines of NCP and other factions of Congress Party.
The aides of Y.S.Jagan also busy with the background work like anthem of the party, official slogan and broad policy issues to be included in the manifesto. Jagan is most unlikely to go for bye elections with a clear and defined party manifesto as he need much time to draw opinions on number of issues like agriculture, education, health and much contentious issue of Telangana, It is also learned that Y.S. Jagan is setting a target of 10 lakh winning majority in Kadapa Lok Sabha Constituency in the coming bye elections.
