Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy is with the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He won from Kovvur Assembly constituency of Nellore district in 2009 elections on TDP ticket. He expressed his loyalty towards YS Rajasekhar Reddy and Congress party initially and later moved to YSRCP. He was declared disqualified as an MLA after the TDP lodged a complaint with the Speaker for his anti party activities. The Kovur seat is Going for bye elections in March 2012. Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy is contesting on the ticket of YSR Congress Party.
Prasanna Kumar Reddy’s father late Nallapureddy Srinivasulu Reddy was one of the founder membrs of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP under the leadership of NT Rama Rao. After parting ways with NT Rama Rao, Nallapureddy Srinivasulu Reddy joined the Congress. But his son Prasanna KumarReddy continued in the TDP for a while and later joined in YSRCP. Prasanna Kumar Reddy has been keeping himself away from TDP for quite some time.
Nallapureddy is facing tough fight from another senior TDP leader in the district and former minister Somireddy Chandra Mohan Reddy in the bye elections. Somireddy is contesting on the TDP ticket from Kovur Constituency. Nallapureddy has been demanding Chandra Babu Naidu to quit the presidentship of the Party and pave the way for Nandamuri Balakrishna as TDP’s president. On the other hand, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is very keen on winning the Kovur seat.
