Indian Railways is proposed to link online ticket booking system with Aadhaar number of the passengers. The new proposal is aimed at controlling fake bookings by operators and other malpractices.
It is perceived that the tickets are blocked in huge number by operators and a few individuals thanks to loopholes in the online ticket reservation system. The new method is likely to be implemented from 1st April 2017.
Senior citizens also have to furnish Aadhaar number to get concession in the ticket price. The Railway ministry is also setting up point of sales machined at 6000 locations to promote cashless ticket reservation system.
There will also be a ticketing app to be introduced by Ministry of Railways. The software is also getting ready for this purpose. The Railways will be introducing new tourist trains in the new financial year.
