Abhinandan Varthaman is from the family of servants of this country. He is the brave son of a retired Air Marshal, Simhakutty Varthaman. They are currently living in Chennai.

Many details of his family background are not disclosed due to security concerns. Air Marshal Simhakutty Varthaman has served the nation as Chief of Eastern Air Command.
Marriage and Children:
Abhinandan Varthaman is thirty four year old wing commander of IAF. He is married to Tanvi Marwah. Tanvi Marwah is also a retired IAF officer. They have two children. It is learnt that Simhakutty Varthaman was a consultant for the Mani Ratnam film Kaatru Veliyidai. This movie was filmed in the backdrop of Kargil war and an Indian pilot’s captivity under Pakistan Army.

Abhinandan Varthaman has joined in Indian Air Force (IAF) in 2004. According to the information provided on Bharat Rakshak website, Abhinandan Varthaman was commissioned into Air Force in 2004. As per the BBC reports, Abhiandan’s brother is also serving as an officer with Indian Air Force.
Escape from MiG-21:
Abhinanda Varthaman is in Pakistan’s custody after the crash of MiG-21 Bison aircraft on Pakistan soil on 27 February 2019. He was grounded with the help of parachute, unfortunately on Pak’s land across the Line of Control. Entire India is praying for his safe return to India.

Pakistan Army has released some videos of Abhinandan Varthaman after capturing him. The first video shows Abhinandan blindfolded and bleeding while the later one shows him having tea while questioned by Pakistan army officers. Abhinandan looks very composed and brave while answering the questions. He is a committed soldier while saying ‘sorry major’ to the questions which he is not supposed to answer.

I was remained sleepless last night about the safety of WG cmdr Abinandan. Today I have relieved from the painful ordeal soon after watching the news of release of Anbinandan from Pak custody.Expecting his heroic arrival on his Indian soil. Jai Hind.
