Amaravati Metro Rail or Metro Bus – Pros and Cons of both Projects

Amaravati bus way
Though Metro Bus Way save funds and space, but Metro Rail Project may elevate the image of the new Capital City of Amaravati.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh seems to be rethinking on the proposed Amaravati Metro Rail Project. The Government is studying Metro Bus option instead of Metro Rail and weighing various pros and cons of both the projects. The AP Government is also sending a delegation to China and Malaysia to study Metro Bus ways in those countries.

Following are some important aspects of Metro Rail and Metro Bus:

Land Acquisition cost:

Land acquisition for Vijayawada Metro Rail project to cost more than Rs. 750 crore. But the land acquisition for elevated Metro Bus project will cost less than Rs. 300 crore.

Time to complete the project:

Elevated metro bus can be established within 20 months. Metro Rail construction will take a minimum of three to five years to complete the project.

Space Occupation:

Metro Rail will occupy 22 metres in the centre of the road until completion of the project. But Metro Bus construction will take half the space that metro rail would occupy.

Though there are various disadvantages of Metro Rail project in a growing capital city, it will also create an image make over to the new capital and attract investors.
