The Government of Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to conduct Panchayat Raj Elections in the state. As per the indications given by the Government, the Panchayat elections (local bodies elections) are likely to be held in April / May 2013.
The Congress party is on cloud nine after it’s resounding success in recent co-operative elections (DCCB and DCMS elections). The party has bagged as many as DCCBs and succeeded in rejuvenating the cadre to some extent.
Though the Panchayat elections do not related to party affiliations, all the political parties in the state are taking Panhayat elections prestigious. Victory in the these elections will help the parties to build the party from grassroots level.
The State Election Commission has also indicated that the commission is ready to conduct polls within three months. The Supreme Court judgement on reservations in local bodies has cleared the decks for elections.
