Former cricketer and congress leader Mohammad Azharuddin is seeking to get elected to Lok Sabha from Secunderabad constituency of Telangana State in 2019 general elections, if the party accepts his intentions. The constituency is presently being represented by Bandaru Dattatreya of BJP.

Former captain has said that the people of Secunderabad constituency have welcomed him to content from the segment. It is believed that Azharuddin has taken several works in the constituency after approval from Congress high command.

Azharuddin has contested and won from Moradabad Lok Sabha Constituency in Uttar Pradesh in 2009 elections. But he contested from Rajasthan and lost the elections in 2014.

Azharuddin has contested for the post of President of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) but his nomination was rejected by the returning officer on the grounds of ban on him imposed by BCCI for alleged involvement in mat fixing.

Azharuddin was also fighting against G Vivekanand’s election as HCA President. The High Court has recently struck down the election of Vivekanand on the grounds of conflict of interests.
