The Department of Geology along with several other research organisations have confirmed that several areas in Telangana has diamond and gold deposits. The research findings of the scientists have been published in the reputed American journal of Pelagia Research Library.
The diamond and gold deposits are expected in the river belts of Krishan, Halia, Musi and Kanagal rivers. A total of seven places are identified in research the findings. The Geologists of Osmania University have also announced diamond reserves in Mahabubnagar district a few months back. They have recently identified another seven places in Nalgonda district. These findings were published in Pelagia journal on Monday (7th September 2015).
The researchers have identified the similarities between diamond reserves in Ramadugu area with that of diamond deposits in Western Australia. The gold deposits are identified in Pedavura mandal. The scientists have come to a conclusion based on the remote sensing images, GSI and Aero Magnetic Surveys.
The Professor at Osmania University, G. Ramdas, NGRI scientist K. Satish and research student G. Sriramulu have participated in this research. They have carried out research on mines in Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, Karimnagar and Kadapa districts also.
