The government of Telangana has ordered the banks to issue crop loans to farmers without taking pass books pahanis as surety. Instead the government has asked the banks to get the data from e-passbooks.
The government has made ammendments to the record of rights 1971 to this effect. As per the new rules, farmers need not pledge their passbooks, pahanis, and title deeds to get crop / agriculture loans from banks.
Banks have to obtain the land records of farmers through webland portal instead of hard copies from the farmers. About 21 banks are implementing this guideline while issuing loans to farmers.
The government of Telangana has digitalised the land records of the state. The digitalisation process is almost completed in all the districts of the state.
