The official sources at Election Commission of India (EC) have hinted that the Assembly elections for Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are likely to be held in November – December 2012. The polling for these state is likely to be held in the last week of November or in the first week of December 2012.
Assembly Elections in Gujarat will be held in two phases while Himachal Pradesh will go for a single phase polls. The Election Commission of India is discussing the arrangements and schedules with concerned state officials.
The term of Gujarat will expire on 17th January 2013. The last day for present Himachal Pradesh Government is 10th January 2013. The EC sources have denied preponement of Assembly Elections to Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura. The term of ongoing Assembly for Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura will expire in March 2013. The EC may go for a separate election schedule for these states.
