There are huge speculations around the capital city for new Andhra Pradesh / Seemandhra. The real estate lobby in Seemandhra seems trying its best to declare Guntur – Vijayawada belt as capital of Seemandhra. With the news of Chandrababu Naidu taking oath as first Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from Guntur / Vijayawada, the speculations are gaining credibility to a greater extent.
Given the style of administration and views on the capital city and development, Chandrababu Naidu is also likely to tilt towards Guntur – Mangalagiri – Vijayawada – Telani belt as a capital region for AP.
But the Central Government may also has its say in deciding the new capital for the state. If Narendra Modi like to go for separate cities for administrative and financial capitals as like in Gujarat (Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad as administrative and financial capitals), the new enthusiasm in Guntur – Vijayawada belt is likely to cool down.
In such case, the Guntur – Vijayawada region may be declared as administrative capital of new Andhra Pradesh state (Seemandhra). Visakhapatnam will emerge as financial capital for Seemandhra. Modi and BJP leaders from the state may also try to strengthen their party in North Andhra region through giving importance to Visakhapatnam.
